Badmaal Project – Banaadir Regional Administration (BRA)

The Badmaal Project is a community-based development and urban resilience initiative implemented by the Banaadir Regional Administration (BRA) to improve livelihoods, strengthen social cohesion, and enhance the capacity of vulnerable households to recover from shocks and sustain income-generating activities within Banaadir Region.

Project Purpose

The primary objective of the Badmaal Project is to support vulnerable and low-income households—particularly youth, women, and internally displaced persons—by providing livelihood assistance, skills development, and community-driven interventions that promote economic self-reliance and social stability.

Key Components

1. Livelihoods and Income-Generating Support
   Provision of start-up capital, tools, and inputs for small businesses and self-employment activities to enable beneficiaries to restore and diversify household income sources.

2. Skills Development and Vocational Training
   Delivery of market-relevant vocational and technical skills training aligned with local economic opportunities in Banaadir Region.

3. Community Engagement and Social Cohesion
   Facilitation of community participation, dialogue, and collective action to strengthen trust, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence among diverse urban communities.

4. Targeting and Beneficiary Selection
   Transparent identification and selection of eligible beneficiaries in coordination with district administrations and community committees.

5. Monitoring, Accountability, and Support
   Ongoing monitoring of beneficiary progress, provision of mentorship or follow-up support, and establishment of grievance redress mechanisms.

6. Institutional Coordination and Capacity Building
   Strengthening collaboration between BRA departments, district authorities, and development partners to ensure effective project implementation and sustainability.
