The major role of this department is to ensure systematic management and conservation of public records

Key functions include:

1. Serving the legal depository for Newspapers and Publications.
2. Conducting training workshops in Records Management and conservation.
3. Implementation of the Printing Presses, Printers and Publishers and Newspaper
4. Preservation and indexing of the private collections deposited in the Department.
5. Ensuring official custody and physical safety of public records & making them available
6. for reference and study.
7. Conduction of record surveys in Public Institutions.
